Splendid Really!

So I am moving in with a boy.

It’s so strange [& exciting & new!] to me & I know it’s one of the most normal things in the world to pretty much everyone else [except for many of the fanatically religious upstarts I went to high school with], but I have never, ever lived with a boy. [My brother doesn’t count; you know what I mean!] I have had plenty of relationships, almost all of them long-term & there have been many opportunities to quit the duffle bag shuffle and just move in together, but I’ve never been quite ready for that until now.

Aaron already feels like home to me. That’s incredibly cheesy & I get that, but he does. This is less about being tired of schlepping back & forth between one another’s houses. This is less about significantly cutting down our commute time [though that’s very nice as well]. This is less about “playing house” & trying on another aspect of adulthood to see if it fits. It’s mostly about I love this man & I am confident in my future with him & he is the person I want to see when I wake up and as I fall asleep every single day.

So today, we sign a lease.

Last night, we sat across from each other drinking beer & marveling at the fact that today we really start our lives together. No, we’re not getting married, having babies or any of those important life-changing events that truly bind a couple together - but we’re in it to win it & we’re excited. And nervous & anxious & pretty fucking scared. This is big. And I can’t wait for it to begin.
